currently lovin'

Hình ảnh
it's been a while since I've popped up a currently lovin' so here's the latest instalment of a few items that are currently floating my boat! 1. thrifted straw bag: I love a good rummage through my local vintage & second hand shops! I picked up this little straw bag for £2  and I love it! 2. illamasqua androgen cream pigment* this is a wonder product!! a beautiful cream pigment that I use mostly on my cheeks (but can be used on eyes and lips too if it takes your fancy) a warm coral pink androgen is a shade that suits most skin types and gives a lovely glow.. if you're after a combination make up this is a great investment and has become a firm favourite of mine! 3. topshop nail polish in spilled milk: my love affair with white nails continues and this is my latest buy! the formula of this colour is surprisingly good needing 2 coats for coverage; I've found it doesn't chip too easily either! white polishes can be a little hit and miss so if you've b...

make up storage: muji acrylic drawers

Hình ảnh
I finally took the plunge and invested in the muji acrylic drawers  that are a firm favourite with bloggers and make up addicts! oh boy.. they're just the handiest thing ever and whats not to love about keeping everything tidy? I've filled mine with my everyday make up; the top drawer is for my favourite essentials that I always reach for.. foundation, mac skinfinish powder, mascara, blusher and my eyebrow pencils.  I've filled the second drawer with my most used lip products and some other bits and bobs! I wish I'd bought one of these earlier; the flip top lid makes life easy when I'm scrabbling around for my concealer in the morning! I'm definitely going to get some more of these muji wonders for my skincare and nail products... quite possibly the best £11 I've spent this year! have you got anything similar.. any recommendations? caroline x

hat: h&m dress: c/o warehouse necklace: h&m straw bag: thrifted belt: vintage (gift) silver chunky ring: kukee in case you missed the news I've got the keys to my new house and the renovations have began... EEEEEP!!!!!! I'm half excited/half terrified at the amount of work that the boy and I have to do over the next month so if I'm a little absent on social networks and on here then it'll be because I'm wrestling a power drill... the joys! on the plus side I'm really looking forward to doing some DIY's and crafty house-esq projects once we're in so hopefully I'll have lots of little posts to come over the next few months! this is a little outfit I put together when I raiding the wardrobe, you may recognise the dress from an older post (when I first got it the weather was pretttttty darn chilly so I layered it up with high collar shirts) now it's warm enough to wear alone I took advantage as it's a really comfortable little number. I...

easy tiger nail art:

Hình ảnh
I've been so busy recently I've not had much time to dedicate to my favourite pastime.. nail painting!  I can't help but get a little bored of plain nails so nail transfers are my go-to 'nail art' when time is precious (if in doubt cheat your way to fun fingers!)  I have quite a few favourites but these tiger transfers from janchristie are definitely in my top 5!!  they're incredible easy to use just peel off the transfer and stick the image onto your nails.. voila! make sure you apply a few layers of top coat to seal the image otherwise it will rub off when they get wet!  in case you wondered the nail polish is the gorgeous lemon meringue from models own  (yum) the transfers are available from  janchristie  in dozens of animal varieties! in other news I realised I never did anything to celebrate reaching 1000 followers so I'm planning a nail art giveaway next month hurrah!! (I'll buy a few transfer sets to pop in along with some other surprises as I ...

dungarees: primark original personal organiser : c/o filofax shirt: vintage rucksack : topshop nike blazers : office eeeeeeep I decided to take part in a challenge this week... a filofax one to be exact! you may have realised I'm a bit of a stationary geek so the opportunity to mix it with fashion was too fun for me to resist! the challenge was to pick a fashion decade to style with my filofax.. I couldn't resist a chance to wear my nerdy new dungarees so I opted for a bit of 90's grunge.. the winner and runners up get to host a filofax giveaway on their blog yipeeee!! (after using mine I knew you guys would love them too, they have so many great features inside from week planners, to do lists, plus fun built in extras like rulers and shopping list pads) if you have a minute and would like to vote you can pop over to their facebook gallery here and simply 'like' my pictures! thanks to those who've voted already! caroline x

easy leopard print nail art:

Hình ảnh
I actually painted these nails a while ago! I'd thought I'd pop them up so you could see them before they disappeared into the nail art archives never to be seen again! maybeline colour show in nebline* I used a beautiful shade called nebline from the maybelline colour show range. the colour is a perfect pastel pink but that's the only positive I have for this polish as I found the formula really disappointing!  I've only used two colours from this range and both needed an excessive amount of coats for full opacity (I found the yellow in the colour show range needed at least 5 coats!)  (the price range is very affordable at £2.99 but I have to say for the same price range I'd rather invest in a barry m polish)  I've gone for a basic leopard/animal print which is great for beginners!  I began by drawing silver circles and then just outlined them with a black nail art pen once they dried. add a few random dots here and there to break up the spaces and seal with to...

dress: vintage (gift) belt: urban outfitters superga x rita ora high top trainers: c/o allsole hat: h&m similar here bag: topshop badges: vintage and thrifted ice cream necklace: chelsea doll I do like to have a bit of fun with my outfits... I've always had a slight obsession with collecting old badges and brooches so I decided to use a few of them to decorate one of my vintages dresses (the dress is so 80's I figured I should go with it) I think I might have been on a haribo induced sugar high when I put this outfit together. I thought it would the perfect casual outfit to wear with my new trainers from  allsole . these silver beauties are from the new rita ora collaboration with superga , she's the face of their latest campaign and these metallic high tops are just too cool for school! I can't resist anything shiny and I think they'll be perfect with some skinny jeans as autumn approaches... (they also did a collaboration with house of holland and have some tr...

DIY fabric covered plant pots:

Hình ảnh
today I have an incredibly easy DIY for you! covering planters in fabric is a great way to decorate boring old pots and inject some fun into your decor. it's also quick and easy (my favourite combination) so even the laziest of DIY-ers could try this one! you'll only need a few things: terracotta planters work best for this craft project (glazed pots and PVA don't adhere well) I picked up this little pot for 75p in my local garden center! you'll also need a square of fabric, PVA glue and some scissors. first check your fabric to fits around your pot (you'll need the leave a few inches of excess to wrap over the rim and base) I found it easiest to work with a square shape of fabric rather than an rectangle as when you wrap you'll turn the pot diagonally.  brush on PVA glue to a small section of the pot and start to apply the fabric. simply work your way around the pot applying the PVA glue in sections followed by fabric (don't cover the entire pot with glue i...

what I wore: tea dress + t bars

topi tea dress: motel fedora: topshop selena bag: la moda martie shoes: topshop chunky silver band: kukee some brands are just damn dangerous for my bank balance!  motel is one of those websites I go out of my way to avoid browsing due to the sheer amount of temptation on offer, I am however fatally weak (I guess some things are just too pretty to avoid goddamn it) I finally ordered this dress after a few days of ummming and ahhhing and I'm so glad I did;  it's the perfect little summer dress and really comfortable to wear (now I just have to resist the other three dresses I spotted...) I also picked up this oversized selena bag from la moda which was a steal at £16 and could quite literally carry a small rhino (ok I exaggerate a little but it's amazingly roomy) I loved the padlock and tassel detail and I wanted a big white summer bag for holiday so it ticked all the boxes. they have some beauties in stock the minute and I'm seriously tempted to go back for another styl...

DIY daisy trim dress:

Hình ảnh
I saw a gorgeous dress on the motel website.. baby doll shape.. cute daisy trimming.. yep it was a keeper.  however it occured to me I could probably make my own version for a fraction of the the price, I love it when a (thrifty) plan comes together! I went out to explore my local haberdashery and to my delight discovered the very same daisy trim.. mission accomplished!  so here's how I made my own easy peasy DIY daisy dress.. if you want to upcycle some of your wardrobe here's the basic steps: you'll need approx 1.5 meters of daisy trimming (available on eBay) an old dress (I've used an old topshop basic jersey dress) a needle and thread  decide where you want to add the daisies to your dress and pin the trim down to hold it in place. using a needle and thread sew the trim to secure it, repeat for all sections and remove any remaining pins.  that's it you're all finished! very quick, very easy and the perfect way to give an old dress, shorts or tee a new lease ...
