styling an acapulco chair at home

Hình ảnh
let me introduce you to my favourite new addition- the acapulco or string chair! this little beauty is my latest obsession. if you're into retro chairs you'll know this style was popular in the 50's/60's and they can be used both inside or outdoors! i wanted to show you a few pictures so you could see how i've styled mine, it's quite an unusual chair but i think they fit effortlessly into a modern home. my chair from  cox and cox * was destined for my living room as it's the perfect match for my fireplace- hurrah. if you've never sat in one before they're actually rather darn comfortable, like sitting in a cocoon that curves around you! (i guess it's the closest i'll get to having a hammock indoors...) grey string chair*  | cox and cox slogan light box | urban outfitters sheepskin throw | ikea record player | urban outfitters  plant stand | ferm living berber rug | john lewis ( similar here ) to style mine i decided to keep it simple, i...

scandi style tips for your home office

Hình ảnh
having a workspace that i enjoy makes it much more bearable when i have to put in long hours. if you work from home or spend your evenings online having a functional office is the key to being more productive. scandinavian styling really suits home offices, their more minimal approach looks fresh and clean with the added bonus of keeping things organised and tidy. personally i'm far more productive when i keep clutter at bay, following a few rules to simplify my desk works miracles! - streamline your desk. keep only what you need on your desk. i have a huge collection of stationery but having it all out at once would be a logistical nightmare. keep the pens and smaller items needed daily in a pot or organiser and put everything else away. be ruthless and invest in storage boxes or baskets to store things neatly out of sight. i keep all my camera equipment, hard drives, usb's and ugly cables in simple white ikea boxes until i need them. taking five minutes in the evening to put...

style | converse + soho

Hình ảnh
floral shirt | topshop jeans | topshop bag | gucci trainers | converse gosh it's been so long since i shared an ootd. i go through phases where i really don't feel like taking outfit pictures (if i'm honest i'd rather just enjoy a day out without a camera involved!) but occasionally i get the itch to mix things up so here we go! i'm forever hunting for the 'perfect' pair of jeans this month it's  straight leg . my current faves are from topshop- i had to try on a few but i like this washed out grey pair- they're something different to my usual blues and blacks. i also nabbed this cropped floral shirt, the boxy fit and slightly long sleeves won me over. it comes in quite a few colours (i have the peach one as well but i find that creases pretty quickly- be warned!) i can't remember if i've showed you my  soho disco bag  (thank you santa!) i'm not someone who really obsesses over designer labels, most of the time i'll opt to spend my ...

what I wore: vintage levi's

Hình ảnh
hat: h&m vintage levi's denim jacket* brag vintage necklace: urban outfitters dress: topshop belt: forever 21 bag: vintage watch: river island psssst don't tell anyone but I've reached the stage where I'm secretly excited to be wearing jumpers again! I seem spend the majority of each year praying for sunshine but when the chill starts to set in I get all excited about knits, layering up and dark nights with hot drinks. I'm still slightly clinging to summer though; there's no chance the 100 denier tights are making an appearance ...just yet. I'm wearing a topshop jersey dress that I picked up in the sale but it's been a little nippy so my jackets are making a reappearance! cue my excited face as I've been hunting for slightly oversized vintage denim and this one is just pretty darn perfect! (what really swung it for me was the old patches on the back and sleeves which I'm a little obsessed with) the jacket is from brag vintage who have becom...

what I wore: embellished tee

Hình ảnh
retro beads embellished tee : c/o choices skirt: topshop shoes: h&m bag: vintage wowza I'm not sure what's gotten into me but I'm loving black again lately...  I spotted this embellished tee on choies and I knew instantly it was THE ONE! I love how simple it is and think it's a great option to wear with skinnies on casual days. I'm really into basic shapes at the moment which I put down to reading a lot of scandinavian blogs this month (they've totally inspired me to invest in a few well cut key pieces!)  if you've not been on choices it's definitely worth a browse; they have an eye watering array of tempting clothes and some beautiful footwear too. the skirt is an oldie from topshop; I wear it time and time again which proves that a simple pencil skirt is a good investment for me (or maybe it proves that I need some new skirts aha!) I opted for white accessories just for the hell of it, I guess black would have been the sensible choice but I wante...

...where I blog from:

I thought I'd share some snaps of my blogging space before I packed up and moved house! I'm already becoming quite sentimental about the move but I'm also excited to take those scary steps to becoming an actual grown up.. gulp. as you can see I'm quite the hoarder.. I'm really looking forward to having more space so my new place won't be quite so busy! I tend to sit and blog at the little console table in the middle, I picked it up in a sale years ago and painted it myself! as much as I love my console table I'm going to buy an actual desk in the next few weeks so I can have an 'official' office space in my new abode... exciting! I also have a lot of bookcases as I accumulated a horrifying amount of art theory books at university (and a fair amount of trashy novels that I simply can't bear to part with aha!) storage is one of the things I need the most and this blue locker from argos is a life saver, I was kindly given one to review and I can hon...

what I wore: the big apple

Hình ảnh
I'm baaaaack!  I wish I could have stayed in new york but it's always nice to be reunited with my bed and proper cups of tea! I thought I should take some outfit photos whilst I was away (in between eating too many pancakes, squealing at every yellow taxi and generally being as excited as a 5yr old in a sweet shop) I'll pop them up over the next few weeks (it makes a nice change to have some outdoor photos again hurrah!)  well the first day was sunny but a little bit chilly so I layered up like a snowman (this was a reoccurring theme!) I wore one of my old vintage denim shirts, my fave urban outfitters sweater and my go-to topshop leigh jeans.  my boohoo faur fur is my absolute favourite coat this year so it had to come along for the trip too. I love it's vintage fit and style and it's pretty much like wearing a hug all day long!  after a few hours of sight seeing in midtown we made it to the famous shake shack  and well... complete gluttony ensued! if you're pl...
