what I wore: ditsy print + converse

Hình ảnh
sunglasses: h&m crop tee: topshop ditsy floral folk skirt: cath kidston straw bag: claire's double arm cuff and necklace: topshop trainers: converse what better way to celebrate another sunny day than to park myself in front of a brick wall? (oh dear) brickwork aside I've been having one of my ocd induced cleaning sessions and rediscovered this cath kidston skirt that I nabbed in the sale last year.. huzzah! I also unearthed £1.70 and half eaten refresher bar so all in all a very productive afternoon. the crop tee is from topshop, I love a good summer basic so I've picked up a few of these and as always first on my list was grey marl, I do love a grey tee! the straw bag is an oldie from claire's accessories, I probably should have stopped visiting that shop when I hit 16 but I'm rather glad I didn't for this bag alone!  I've got an afternoon with a pair of pliers and chains lined up (I'm not about to get 50 shades on you; it's just a jewellery D...

watermelon nail art tutorial:

summer heatwaves call for fresh fruity fingers so I thought I'd share one of my favourite tutorials with you! you may recognise this design from my collaboration with the awesome LA based company scratch .. it's been a dream come true having them made into nail wraps and seeing other people wearing them! I though I'd revisit them again this week as the weather has been glorious and it's the perfect summer mani! I've always used the two same colours for this nail art barry m bright pink and spring green, both having great formula's for the price! I'm a little hooked on barry m this month particularly the gelly range.. yum. start off by painting the cuticle half of your nails green, fill in the remaining half with the bright pink! use a white nail art pen or striping brush to draw a white band where the two colours meet! once dry use a black nail art pen or dotting tool to add black dashes to suggest seeds, leave to dry and seal with a good clear topcoat! if ...

what I wore: laurel wreath & vintage

Hình ảnh
it's love... of the fred perry variety. my other half had some fred perry tops... I say had as I've borrowed quite a few and 'forgotten' to return them. my fave is his cricket jumper, perfect autumnal snuggling material! I've always had a soft spot for their range, simple clean cuts with a vintage feel there's something adorably retro about the brand and it's heritage. this floral print shirt  is from their laurel wreath collection, a super sexy collaboration with fashion designer amy molyneaux of london label PPQ. vintage inspired with a modern spin I love the little details on this collection; quirky collars, silk fabrics and a snazzy (yes it appears I've just used the word snazzy) 1950's influence. I've paired it with a pair of max & co high waisted vintage shorts, I've had these for a while and have been waiting to give them an outing; I love the bright colour but I wasn't sure what to wear them with until now! my hair 'do...

what I wore: palm trees & perspex

Hình ảnh
I love prints.. especially of the palm tree variety! two minutes after opening this meemee  dress, I was on a beach, mojito in hand ready for my summer holiday (you can't blame a girl for dreaming...) as soon as the rain makes itself scarce this little beauty is going to be a staple in my sunny day dress collection. they have some really nice items in at the minute, this lace  playsuit  is  already making my debit card nervous so if you haven't added them to your shopping bookmarks you should. you may notice my new hat; this topshop fedora has been on my wishlist for about two months (yep I caved, I'm weak) now I can pretend to be indiana jones from the comfort of my own bedroom... that's my weekend plans sorted. the belt is from forever 21 and is a really good dupe of the urban outfitters versions so I figured I was saving myself some money with this purchase...wink. sugarhill boutique tropical seas dress: c/o  meemee fedora:  topshop belt: forever 21...

what I've been buying: summer accessories

Hình ảnh
hello sunshine, good bye wages. sunny weather puts me in a dangerously good mood which usually leads to shopping. yes I know.. I'm weak. I have resisted shopping for clothes however (gives myself a pat on the back) and instead decided to buy a few little accessories to perk up my wardrobe for the summer. first up some sunglasses as I'm horrendlous short of pairs. I'm not sure where they disappear to every year but I have a feeling my mum or sister has a stash of my specs hidden away somewhere... rascals! I picked these sunnies up in h&m along with the blingtastic necklace! I've wanted a statement piece to wear with a white tee and jeans for the summer and I liked the shape of this one. I also grabbed some barry m gelly polishes (finally!!) I think I was the only blogger who didn't own any of these so I'm looking forward to swatching them. bright shiny nails with summer skin are so pretty! The last beauty purchase was a top up of my maybelline dream lumi touc...

bullet proof nails from red carpet queen:

Hình ảnh
I always get excited by new brands (hmmmm ...did someone say geek?) red carpet queen is a new brand to me so I wasn't sure what to expect; I was sent these awesome looking nail polishes by the hut  to test drive and I'm pretty impressed with them.  firstly I'll say they're far too much fun, the packaging is a brilliant novelty! (probably the closest I'll get to holding actual bullets- probably a good thing considering the amount of serial killer documentaries I watch!)  I've been wearing controversy for 4 days now- I'm beginning to see very small chips beginning on my right index finger & thumb but the others and my left hand remains chip free (I have a special skill for chipping polish so I'm always impressed by anything that lasts longer than 3-4 days!) they've been formulated with an extra high dose of nitrocellulose to keep them strong and long lasting so this is probably why! the colours of the polishes are really something...

what I wore: 90's and floral

Hình ảnh
I love little day trips. I went to tate modern earlier this week to see the lichtenstein retrospective; I was super excited to catch the show as he was one of my icons growing up! since pop art was the theme of the day I wanted to wear something equally pop-tastic so I opted for this gorgeous mink pink dress from  mee mee  (be warned they have some fantastic new arrivals in stock at the minute!) this little number brought out my 90's nostalgia when; remember the good old saved by the bell days aha! bright florals are one of my favourite looks (I also love a dress with a good swoosh!)  I went with the 90's vibe again with my accessories; my pineapple necklace from chelsea doll and retro mondrian watch that I picked up at american apparel. since it's still pretty nippy out there I added my new denim jacket which is one of those classic transitional pieces.. yep, I'm still a closet double denim lover. vintage style floral dress: mink pink c/o  mee mee denim jacket:...

nail art inspo! mix & match:

Hình ảnh
I painted these mix and match nails yesterday; I thought I would share them with you to give you some ideas for your own nails!  sometimes I can't decide on just one pattern... so I guess this is a nail art cocktail of sorts! I used some of my favourite  models own  colours to create a candy coloured base to work on! I then painted on hearts, cupcakes, florals and some pop art motifs to create a fun mix & match! I hope you like them!!  back soon caroline x
