DIY embroidery hoop planter

Hình ảnh
this is a paid partnership with creative rox hey guys, i'm back today to share a cute and simple project.. a modern planter made from embroidery hoops. when i decided to use hoops for a DIY it was an easy choice for me to make them into a hanging planter (i'm a huge fan of filling my home with greenery but my shelves are at capacity so hanging them is an ideal solution.) plus, embroidery hoops are super versatile, from table centrepieces to wreaths or jewellery displays they're always handy to have in your craft stash.

tips for creating a modern winter tablescape

Hình ảnh
Ad in partnership with Sainsburys Home I absolutely love this time of year, dark cosy nights and the anticipation of Christmas just around the corner, yep, it gets me every time! One of my favourite things to do is set the table, whether for a casual brunch or a more formal dinner, food is always the best way to bring people together.   Generally, I always tend to put together a simple and minimal table arrangement, in recent years I've found myself drawn to a moodier romantic vibe that I think sits well with the autumn-winter nights. I've teamed up with Sainsbury's Home for this how-to post as their kanso living range was the inspiration for this winter-themed setting. Pick a theme and colour palette. The key to setting any table is to have a vision of the finished table before you start. Are you going for a contemporary table or something more rustic and earthy? Will it be colourful or monochrome?  I wanted a serene and classic table with a muted palette of grey with...

DIY cane sideboard | IKEA hack

Hình ảnh
if you've been a little absent over here recently you might have missed my obsession with all things cane (see this cabinet,  this headboard  and this bedside table  DIY's as proof.)  if you love cane furniture as much as me the good news is i'm back with a boho take on a classic storage unit.. the IKEA besta . i love the versatility of this storage unit, it comes in so many options, sizes and combinations you can easily pick a selection that works in your home.  i chose to create this sideboard storage unit using the larger besta units (fyi there are other options in the IKEA besta range like media units/single/double freestanding cabinets that would also look equally great with this makeover.)  i've used a different type of cane webbing to my other projects and i have to say i like this more delicate weave a lot (i have some offcuts that i'm going to stash away in case i think of some smaller projects in the future.) you can read the full DIY tutorial i'v...

DIY drawer dividers

Hình ảnh
nothing gets my inner neat freak stirred up like a junk drawer. we all have them right? they start out semi-tidy, a place to throw keys and items that don't have a home but they always end up becoming a hot mess of random (and mostly useless) stuff! i've been on a huge declutter mission lately, you might remember my hidden door storage and small storage hook shelf DIYs? well, this is another quick little project to help make your home a little more organised, drawer dividers!  trust me, nothing feels better than getting rid of a junk drawer. i had one in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom (i'm totally guilty of sweeping everything into a drawer when i'm doing a quick surface tidy!) you can grab boxes and dividers at ikea but they often don't fit my mid-century or vintage furniture and i wanted something that was more of a custom fit.  these do-it-yourself balsa wood dividers are quick and easy to make and fit perfectly. organising my stuff just got a whole lot cute...

DIY botanical picture frames

Hình ảnh
Post in collaboration with Gorilla Glue   I've wanted to try making my own picture frames for a while, it just seemed logical to make some frames for the posters that I've not had time to frame. I researched making traditional frames but to be honest they're pretty boring and I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel here! I decided to make magnetic frames instead, you can easily open them to switch your prints in and out in seconds which suits me waaaay better.  Not only are they great for hanging art, posters or calendars but you can also make your own framed botanical artwork for them. (Since I'm slowly trying to turn my house into a mini rainforest why not display my plant collection on the walls as well as on my shelves?) I've teamed up with Gorilla to show you how to make this framed botanical wall display, read on to see how. You'll need: Pine stripwood  (mine was 6mm x 15mm x 2400mm) Gorilla Super Glue Precise Gel Neodymium magnets Hacksaw Gorilla Mounti...

DIY small space storage hacks

Hình ảnh
i feel like storage is always pretty high on my home agenda- we don't have much built-in storage so every cupboard and unit counts! with an ever-growing collection of toys and clothes breeding in every drawer i'm having to get more and more creative with how i'm storing my stuff. i've been doing a few things to maximize the unused spaces in my home and i thought i'd share a few with you.. i figure some of you might be bursting at the seams too and hey every little helps right? one of my favourites is this hidden door storage, all you need is this grid panel  -I've shared the idea and how to quickly install it over at hunker home , go check it out. it's a really quick way to utilize cupboard doors as they're such a wasted space!!  (i styled it up with cleaning utensils for these photos but after a wardrobe reshuffle i'm now using it to hang handbags and totes- it works SO well as it keeps them super tidy and easy to browse. no more bags precariousl...

DIY easy modern wall art

Hình ảnh
i'm always drawn to bold graphic posters, they bring some much-needed colour and character to our bare white walls. however, when it comes to wall art no matter how much i buy i always seem to need more? i'm constantly trying to justify buying artwork but we recently splurged on a batch of new prints so i've reached my spending limit ... enter this DIY. these prints don't require any painting, drawing or printing, in fact the hardest part is picking a colour scheme. (i went pretty neutral, i'm a little in love with all the earthy tones i'm seeing all over pinterest right now.)  pop over to hunker to read how i made the cheapest, quickest and easiest wall art ever! i opted for a retro mid-century vibe, you can totally experiment with colour and shape to create your own totally unique designs. i'm super happy with how they turned out, they're a perfect addition to my growing wall art collection and they look really professional! let me know if you try maki...

DIY cane cabinet | IKEA hack

Hình ảnh
ok, so i'm fully obsessed with cane furniture, it haunts me with its gorgeousness but i basically can't justify the cost cause some of that stuff is EXPENSIVE!!! i wanted to make my own budget version of some the lovely cabinets i keep spying on sites like urban outfitters. if there was ever a piece of furniture crying out for an IKEA hack it has to be the ivar cabinet, it's beautiful in its simplicity.. those untreated wooden doors and those clean lines, ah yes we likey. i figured the doors could easily be modified to add in some cane panels and guess what .. i was bloody right, hurrah! head over to hunker to see the step by step for this  cane furniture hack  and let me know if you try making it too! are you loving cane furniture too? i have some more projects that I'll be using this  cane webbing on that i'll be sharing soon.. caroline x
