i've been making some little changes around the house whilst we're on lockdown, there are so many things i want to do but having an energetic toddler means time for home improvements is v. limited! however there is one update that i wanted to share on here, a cute modification to the shelves in gabe's room.

so i totally intended to share our nursery photos before gabe arrived but omg honestly i have no idea what happened but i never got around to it so here we are a few years later than planned!

mantle display  /  the merrythought DIY pine garland  /  tree vase  / christmas table / rosemary garland with december sneaking up on us i thought i'd share some of the things that have been inspiring me lately on pinterest, yes, you guessed it, christmas decor! i've found myself a little torn over our decorations this year, i'm a huge fan of natural decor with lots of greenery and earthy accents. however gabe is coming to an age where he's really starting to understand the excitement of christmas so i feel like i should have some more fun decorations for him.  after talking to james and going back and forward on it we've decided to keep our holiday decor natural, it's just so beautiful and serene and fit's in with our home so well. if you've been a little absent over here recently you might have missed my obsession with all things cane (see this cabinet,  this headboard  and this bedside table  DIY's as proof.)  if you love cane furniture as much as me the good news is i'm back with a boho take on a classic storage unit.. the IKEA besta . i love the versatility of this storage unit, it comes in so many options, sizes and combinations you can easily pick a selection that works in your home.  i chose to create this sideboard storage unit using the larger besta units (fyi there are other options in the IKEA besta range like media units/single/double freestanding cabinets that would also look equally great with this makeover.)  i've used a different type of cane webbing to my other projects and i have to say i like this more delicate weave a lot (i have some offcuts that i'm going to stash away in case i think of some smaller projects in the future.) you can read the full DIY tutorial i'v...

omg two blogs posts within a week, i'm on a roll! i think by now it's obvious that i'm rather partial to making things with clay (i mean it's basically play-doh for grown ups right?) so i decided to fashion a simple wall hanging in muted tones to match with my love of all things beige...

Post in collaboration with Gorilla Glue   I've wanted to try making my own picture frames for a while, it just seemed logical to make some frames for the posters that I've not had time to frame. I researched making traditional frames but to be honest they're pretty boring and I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel here! I decided to make magnetic frames instead, you can easily open them to switch your prints in and out in seconds which suits me waaaay better.  Not only are they great for hanging art, posters or calendars but you can also make your own framed botanical artwork for them. (Since I'm slowly trying to turn my house into a mini rainforest why not display my plant collection on the walls as well as on my shelves?) my name is caroline and i have a rattan addiction... seriously, i just can't help myself. since cane furniture can be ridiculously expensive i'm finding it impossible to resist DIY-ing my own with the help of some cane webbing. it's easy to source and gives you so many options for giving your furniture a quick makeover. this table is the most basic of IKEA purchases.. a £12 nesna nightstand. rainbows are having a bit of a moment.. or is it just me? i'm always looking at nursery decor and lately i can't stop obsessing over rainbows, especially ones in more muted tones.  i've wanted to make a wall hanging for ages so when creative rox asked if i'd like to make something with their products a rainbow wall hanging was an easy choice.
