I've been trying out a few new beauty buys in the last fortnight as well as a couple of random purchases I couldn't resist! here's my fave bits & pieces this week: 1. topshop white martie t bar geek shoes : I feel in love with these shoes in seconds! I was really torn as I loved the red version but I thought white would be perfect to wear with frilly socks for ultimate grandma geek points! 2. lush sweetie pie shower gel & sugar scrub: I was sold on the shower gel at first sniff, smelling like the inside of a sweet shop with an added bonus of glitter throughout, yum! the sugar scrub was a impulse buy as I love a good exfoliate and I saw the ingredients were celulite banishing hurrah.. bye bye lumpy bits, hello baby soft scrubbed skin! 3. topshop powder room lip crayon:  I picked this up in the hope it would be a good handbag essential. I love the matt colour but scrubbed lips are a must before application as it's slightly drying and I'm prone to chapped lip...

I wanted to say a HUGE MASSIVE THANK YOU for voting for my little blog, I'm still pinching myself, I can't actually believe it! I'm so incredibly happy and can't thank you enough, every comment, like and retweet means the world and I'd never dreamt of actually making it to the shortlist. blogging has been such a wonderful experience so far; I'm utterly obsessed with thinking up posts when I should be asleep and scribbling away ideas in my geeky little notebooks in the hope that someone will enjoy them. you've all been so kind, funny and pretty damn awesome I couldn't begin to tell you all how much you've encouraged me and keep me smiling. if you enjoy reading burkatron and have a few minutes to vote I'd be forever grateful! what I wore: vintage & minnie

my best friend is getting married. yipeee!  her hen do was last weekend and I had a pub crawl of mammoth standards to embark on. I wasn't sure what to wear until the last minute and opted for this vintage/thrifted combo as the sun (and my inner child) was out in force! thank god I opted for flats I would have no doubt been nursing the inevitable high heel related blisters if I'd braved wearing them (...I'll swiftly brush over my vodka related lack of co-ordination in heels) I picked up this vintage skirt from the little deer, they've just revamped their shop and have some gorgeous new things in that I'm trying extraordinarily hard to resist..! the crop tee was from one of my thrifting trips, I'm having a crop tee phase this month (not helped by the topshop sale) they're just so easy to wear with my high waited garms! you may notice my newest addition, my super cute iPhone case from iconemesis! the lovely peeps asked me if I'd like to review one of their...

cath kidston nail art tutorial

Hình ảnh
wowza it's been a while since I first painted this nail art... an oldie but a goodie! I figured that some of you wouldn't have seen these (I first painted them just over a year ago here ) I never posted a full tutorial and I wanted to show you how I did them! I've used one of my all time favourite colours  models own beth's blue as the base. the formula of this colour is crazy good- I'm wearing just one coat in the photos below. so here's the steps I've used! first start off with the base colour and leave to dry next use a white nail art pen to draw a white circle, dab small dots around the edges to create these 'cloud' shapes above. next use a dotting tool to add a small dot of a light and dark pink to suggest flowers, then dot on greens to suggest leaves. finish off the design by adding tiny white dots in a circle shape around each flower centerpiece (it's important to space out your design so you have enough room to do this!) seal with topcoa...

what I wore: laurel wreath & vintage

it's love... of the fred perry variety. my other half had some fred perry tops... I say had as I've borrowed quite a few and 'forgotten' to return them. my fave is his cricket jumper, perfect autumnal snuggling material! I've always had a soft spot for their range, simple clean cuts with a vintage feel there's something adorably retro about the brand and it's heritage. this floral print shirt  is from their laurel wreath collection, a super sexy collaboration with fashion designer amy molyneaux of london label PPQ. vintage inspired with a modern spin I love the little details on this collection; quirky collars, silk fabrics and a snazzy (yes it appears I've just used the word snazzy) 1950's influence. I've paired it with a pair of max & co high waisted vintage shorts, I've had these for a while and have been waiting to give them an outing; I love the bright colour but I wasn't sure what to wear them with until now! my hair 'do...

company magazine rainbow nail art

Hình ảnh
I saw a tutorial for these nails in company magazine and just had to try them (thanks for the inspo you wonderful bunch!) the tutorial is a simple one but if you drink a gallon of tea a day like me I'd recommend you do these before the caffeine shakes kick in!  (if you want these to be really perfect you can always paint a set of false nails and stick them on once dry!) start with a blue base coat (I used illamasqua nobel ) use a white nail art pen to draw on cloud shapes. next draw in a white rainbow shape emerging from the cloud. use yellow, pink and green stripes for  the rainbow and leave to dry. finish off by outlining it all with a fine brush or black nail art pen! I did these quite quickly so I'm not 100% happy with them but I love the design, definitely one I'd do for a festival or day out at the seaside!  have you seen the nail art tutorials in company? tempted to try out any of the others?  back soon! caroline x want to follow my nail art posts?  chec...

what I wore: cut offs & cut outs

Hình ảnh
if in doubt I go basic. I love the simple combination of cuts off & a white tee, If I'm in a hurry it's my go-to throw together outfit.  I took these photos last week, but a weekend of pub crawling for my best friends hen do left put a spanner in the works (and by spanner I mean hangover) luckily a few cheese toasties and an afternoon of self pity seems to have done the trick and I'm back on track. hallelujah. it's such a basic ensemble I thought it was the perfect time to wear my new statement footwear from SoYouShoes . these puppies really caught my eye when I was browsing their website; half sandal - half boot they're a gladiator hybrid and perfect for dressing up a simple outfit (not to mention comfortable I shan't be filling up my handbag with blister plasters for once!) I'm sure I'll be wearing these on a regular basis this summer as they're great paired with shorts and skirts. red lips & a few accessories were my only real attempt to d...
