what I wore: smock till you drop

Hình ảnh
hurrah the sun is out.. about time you little rascal! I can't remember the last time I was so ridiculously excited to put on a dress.. sweet jesus the extended winter has ruined me. I do have a real soft spot for my new peachy number! super loose, laid back and no worrying about sharing my rear with passers by (always a bonus) as it's fairly long and demure. I've always loved smock dresses so one look at the asos website and it was game over for my inner hippy and I.  it doesn't look as floaty in these pictures but trust me it's quite swingy (is that even a word?) and over sized at the waist when you try it on! perfect if you've just ordered yourself a large pizza.. who me? nepi smock dress:  asos necklace:  topshop denim jacket: forever 21 satchel: topshop (old) boots: office back soon! caroline x

sneak peek, the illamasqua paranormal collection!

Hình ảnh
wow wee! exciting news gang, illamasqua's  latest collection is about the hit the shelves! I was lucky enough to go to the paranormal launch this week (I even got to chat with the awesome alex box the beauty and the brains behind the creative process eeeeek!) so today I can show you some of the new range before it lands april 30th.. HURRAH! the launch was a true illamasqua event! tarot cards and smoke machines with a haunted house vibe (luckily there's nothing scary about the make up) it's actually pretty damn cool. illamasqua are quite rightly a huge cult brand; always at the front of innovation (remember the speckled nails from their imperfection range?) and known for their fantastic pigments this collection is a little more punk meets 90's which would always be a winner for me. cue a photo of my other half getting his nails 'illamasqued' sorry james I couldn't resist aha! so here's a few of the new additions...  first up there's a few new lipstick...

vintage flower nail art

Hình ảnh
wowza.. it feels like ages since I've painted my nails! I managed to break two of them in half moving furniture so I had to give all my nails the chop as they were crazily uneven *sobs* I don't really mind having shorter nails though; I think to keep them healthy you should cut them down every few months (this works for me as mine get weaker the longer they grow) my nails grow fairly quickly helped along by regular use of OPI nail envy (miracle product) and lots of TLC! I painted these quickly as I was heading out to an event but I thought I'd share them with y'all in case you wanted to try them too!  as I did these at night I didn't photograph the steps but I'll break down the basic idea for you.. I used models own  peach sherbet as the base, a really pretty spring shade; the flowers are just drawn free hand so no nail art pens needed -but you can use them if you'd like!  take a dark pink polish and draw two large circles on each nail for the flower base. n...

what I wore: whats up pussycat?

oh my, I'm in love with sandals and socks.  who am I and when did this happen...? confession, I've been hoarding frilly socks for months. I blame my enthusiasm for wearing them at every opportunity for my latest fashion crush. I'll look back at this picture when I'm 40 and wonder what head trauma I must have suffered to have pulled a sock/sandal combo but for now I'm loving it -older wiser me be dammed. whilst we're on the subject of crushes, I spotted this navy skirt in primark complete with pockets (my saviours as they keep my hands from fidgeting!) before I knew it I was officially the owner of yet another  piece of heart print clothing, it's a hard habit to shake folks.  fingers crossed the weather stays nice; I have a lot more novelty socks and ice creams to get through! not for ponies cat face tee: (old)  the little deer   navy heart print skirt: primark lion head belt:  urban outfitters bag: h&m sandals: topshop socks: 3 for £8 at...

what I wore: pinafore & thrift

Hình ảnh
yep, still harbouring a crush on dungaree style dresses. they're just so darn easy to wear; I only have to decide what tee to wear underneath and I have an instant outfit.. simples. even better in the summer when this looser style will be perfect for beer garden lounging (ahhh beer gardens how I've missed you!)  I'm hoping this is going to be the last time you see me wearing 1000 denier tights, I've made a decision to burn them all in one huge lycra fulled bonfire at the first opportunity. denim pini dress:  topshop stripe crop top: vintage hat: h&m leather satchel: topshop (old) necklace: topshop watch:  american apparel boots: office before I head off to tuck into a roast chicken dinner (with proper gravy.. exciting shizz) I stumbled across some snaps from the flea market we visited in new york; I thought I'd pop them in as it's got me all of a flutter at the prospect of car booting in the summer, huzzah!  anyone else out there a car boot fan? I've fou...

my day filming with toyota postive! a vintage bonaza:

Hình ảnh
occasionally something crops up that brings a big cheesy smile to my face; I'm not talking about a delivery from the postman or the latest beauty launch (well not today anyway) but something rather more special. I was lucky enough to be a part of a beautiful project recently. the toyota postive campaign is a movement that uses the new toyota prius plug in hybrid to spread a little happiness and hopefully inspire others to come up with their own ways to do the same. my positive story was to set up a vintage pop up shop in shoreditch and give away free vintage clothes, yes that's right, FREE CLOTHES!!! I was in actual heaven and my inner girl scout was rather happy too. I can't begin to describe how much fun it was to surprise people and watch the reactions of passers by when they realised we were handing out clothing for no other reason than to make them smile! we had so many beautiful clothes all hand picked and sourced for their bright colours! we had a huge range of hats,...

what I wore: april showers

Hình ảnh
quick outfit post today! this is actually one I wore while I was away, I thought I'd best share it before the summer when pictures of me sporting a woolly hat led you to question my sanity! this is my usual wet day get up, enough layers to qualify as a walking onion & a hat to stop my hair from resembling an 80's perm. I think I look slightly like a hobo in this outfit, but dammit it was comfy. the weather is due to be glorious tomorrow; I've been raiding the depths of my wardrobe to resurrect long neglected summer dresses... hip hip hurray! I'm even splashing out on some fake tan this evening (somebody stop me I'm going wild..) hat: topman navy boyfriend coat: primark yellow check scarf: h&m watch:  american apparel pink mohair jumper: h&m (ss12) jeans: topshop baxter racoon print shirt: asos heart collar clips: c/o  chelsea doll leather satchel: topshop boots: office I'm best be off as I have my niece and nephew visiting. I've dug up 6 worms, c...
