travel | 10 things to do in brighton

Hình ảnh
i had my first trip to brighton at the weekend and i had THE BEST TIME!  brighton totally stole my heart with it's selection of independent boutiques, trendy coffee shops and seaside appeal. it's also pretty compact so you can potter around without stressing out that you'll miss some awesome discovery which makes it my kind of weekend destination! i've rounded up my highlights in case there are any brighton newbies like me thinking of visiting, i'd totally recommend you try these out. 1. take a wander around north laine. i spent the majority of my time in this eclectic slightly hipster neighbourhood . it's swimming with coffee shops, quirky restaurants, vintage stalls and independent boutiques. take a stroll around the streets (right near the train station) and enjoy the bustling atmosphere in between stops for pancakes and coffee! 2. picnic at the cultural quarters. the exotic pleasure palace that is the royal pavilion  is a total surprise to stumble across. it

DIY lavender sleep spray

if you have trouble sleeping you'll know how much it sucks. as a teen i suffered from long bouts of insomnia but i was lucky enough to develop a good sleep routine as i got older. unfortunately my mum hasn't- she still sleeps pretty badly so i wanted to make her a remedy to help.

hello weekend

Hình ảnh
i like to keep things lighthearted on here but yesterdays events in france have made me feel quite sombre today. i think i'm just going to focus on appreciating the happy moments this weekend- those little things i can take for granted. spending a candlelit evening with james in the garden, walking to the market to buy fresh flowers, playing songs i cherish on the record player and those huge hugs my parents give when i've not seen them for a few days. i'm going to fill my days with those good things. hope you all have a lovely weekend.. - undisclosed podcast have a new case for series 2 . -  printable paper? kinda cool. - need a GOT refresher? - gorgeous minimal homes. - on the 'to cook' list. - a pretty and practical DIY to bookmark. caroline x

DIY concrete vases

Hình ảnh
i found these cute bud vases and really wanted to do something with them. i thought about staining or spraying them but i decided it would be way more fun to dip them! (is dipping really 2015? idk but that's what i felt like doing.) instead of dipping them into paint i opted for my other favourite material- concrete. it's really simple to do and i adore how they turned out! materials: bud vases  cement tupperware container 1. source some vases. i picked up these cheap  unglazed vases  at hobbycraft, the unglazed surface was great for dipping as it had some 'grip'. 2. add 2 cups of dry cement into a plastic container. (the container must be larger than the vase you plan to dip!) 3. cover a small area of work surface with newspaper or plastic- you'll want somewhere to pop your vases after they have been dipped. 4. add water to the cement and mix until it is smooth and silky. plunge the vase down into the wet concrete whilst holding the rim, remove and leave to dry* (*
