styling an acapulco chair at home

let me introduce you to my favourite new addition- the acapulco or string chair! this little beauty is my latest obsession. if you're into retro chairs you'll know this style was popular in the 50's/60's and they can be used both inside or outdoors! i wanted to show you a few pictures so you could see how i've styled mine, it's quite an unusual chair but i think they fit effortlessly into a modern home.

my chair from cox and cox* was destined for my living room as it's the perfect match for my fireplace- hurrah. if you've never sat in one before they're actually rather darn comfortable, like sitting in a cocoon that curves around you! (i guess it's the closest i'll get to having a hammock indoors...)

to style mine i decided to keep it simple, i've thrown a sheepskin rug over the seat to soften the look and add a little hygge cosiness over winter. the huge bonus of this chair is that kipper can't scratch it, he has a habit of sharpening his claws on our fabric sofas and ruining the arm rests with his dirty paws! 

i'm so happy with how it's fitted so easily into our space. we're just about to redecorate some of this room, nothing major just a quick repaint and switching the gallery walls for shelving before we pick out a new sofa! although we're generally happy with the room it's nice to move things around to give it a new look, this chair is the first improvement and i'll show you guys around after we finish the rest.
