what I wore: hearts & knits

Hình ảnh
the only new item in this ensemble is my topshop spike cuff that I picked up the sale for £1.50 (hello bargain!) I purchased this jumper from new look quite a few months back and I still love it! elbow patches (aka geography teacher chic) are still high on my love list and it's a really easy item to pair with most of my wardrobe.   the skirt was a primark find and I'm always wearing it; no doubt it'll pop up again soon! I think it's one of those items I'll wear until it literally falls apart and I'm forced to find a replacement! I'm wearing topshop jewel in the crown on my nails, beautiful colour but it's an absolute pain for staining your nails (consider this a warning aha!) jumper: new look- similar  here skirt: primark belt:  urban outfitters bag: vintage boots:  office cuff: topshop sale (in store only) nails: here at  topshop back soon gang! caroline x

nail art inspo! mix & match:

Hình ảnh
I painted these mix and match nails yesterday; I thought I would share them with you to give you some ideas for your own nails!  sometimes I can't decide on just one pattern... so I guess this is a nail art cocktail of sorts! I used some of my favourite  models own  colours to create a candy coloured base to work on! I then painted on hearts, cupcakes, florals and some pop art motifs to create a fun mix & match! I hope you like them!!  back soon caroline x

the foundation face off! chanel vs illamasqua:

Hình ảnh
there are two things in life that are hard to find, the perfect fitting pair of jeans and the right foundation. I'm a girl on a budget; when it comes to make up I tend to stick to mid-range brands for most items but when it comes to foundation I'm prepared to spend a little more!  I was putting on my make up this morning when it occured to me that maybe I should share my two favourites with you in case any of you were looking for that elusive foundation.  I'm not actually someone who wears a lot of foundation, in fact hardly ever in the summer (I just use a good concealer) but in the winter when my summer tan has long gone I feel like I need a little assistance to perk up my skin! so here's my skin savior's in case you wondered what I use: I actually asked twitter for suggestions and the chanel was the most recommended so I took the plunge! I do like this foundation but I was slightly disappointed in the coverage (do bear in mind this is the aqua version so is light

orly hope and freedom nail polish collection!

Hình ảnh
another day another nail polish (or two!) as soon as I think I have every colour another collection of shades pop up to woo me, today it's a couple from orlys latest hope and freedom range I was sent by  look fantastic . created with a festival theme these are the equivalent of boho chic for your nails, I wasn't sure whether they would be bright enough for me but they are really pretty. yes, I've been swayed by feminine pastels and thoughts of summer picnics... I'm a sucker for a theme. coachella dweller  is a lovely minty green quite unlike any other colour I own! the formula is creamy (2 coats for full coverage) without being thick and easy to apply. this is a beautiful spring colour and for a green polish quite sophisticated! melodious utopia  is crazy, I love this one for the surprise element! it looks yellow on but its bursting with tiny flecks of red glitter that glow when they catch the light. I've tried snapping these in different lights but it's impossi

what I wore today: polka dots & cuff

hey hey, long time no see! I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday so here it is.. 24hrs late aha! as much as I love to be trend aware I often just wear an outfit because I like it & it appeals to my mood on that particular day. when the sun came out this week I got a tad carried away with my enthusiasm for spring and threw on a loose vintage blouse, jeans & converse (shock horror I nearly froze my rear off once I stepped outside!)  indoors though this outfit is everything I love. loose, slouchy & waaaay casual it ticked all my favourite boxes for lounging about on my laptop whilst eating crisps.  seriously though spring get a move on.. sincerely caroline. hat: h&m (similar  here ) vintage shirt: gifted v pendant necklace:  topshop bag: vintage double arm cuff: old topshop (gorgeous one I want  here  though!) green cocktail ring:  kukee belt: vintage jeans: topshop  baxter converse:  office back soon! caroline x

O.P.I euro collection:

Hình ảnh
yep, my love affair with blue nails continues! I was sent some nail polishes by the lovely peeps at  look fantastic  and I had to share this one with you! it's a gorgeous little number from the O.P.I euro collection called can't find my Czechbook   I don't own a huge amount of O.P.I polishes but I've loved the ones I've tried in the past.  as expected it's a good formula (you only need 1-2 coats for full coverage) it has a high shine gloss finish and I've been wearing it for a few days with no chips (so far so good!)  I love the colour; bright without being garish it reminds me of vintage denim and summer skies.. sigh, hurry up summer! overall I give this collection a big thumbs up; lilac's, pinks, blues and metallic I think there's a colour for everyone (they're available  here  with free delivery if you fancy a sneaky peek!) what do you guys think? are you fans of O.P.I? caroline x

DIY easy bow nail art tutorial!

Hình ảnh
hello rascals! today I'd thought I'd share a nail art tutorial with you guys! I was really excited recently when company magazine asked me to come up with a nail art feature for their weekly edit; once the initial panic over what to paint receded I came up with this tutorial (I have done this once before but I think a few of you may have missed it as it was some time back!) if you're curious you can find out more about the weekly edit  here! you'll need a base colour, a nail art pen/fine brush and an alternate colour for the bows! you don't need to use the same colours as me; this looks good in dozens of colourways!  so here are the main steps: I hope you like it! I think breaking it down into steps makes this one a lot easier, once you have a basic idea of the shapes you get more confident with it! if you have an iPhone and want to download the issue or any of the others you can have a sneaky peek  here! (I also wanted to quickly say thank you for following my litt

what I wore: vintage misfit

Hình ảnh
when I get a free day I often drag my poor boyfriend around vintage/charity shops (under the guise of going for afternoon tea) in the hunt for some new accessories!  I love finding something old and unique that nobody else is wearing; I like to think of it as fashion treasure hunting!  the vintage suitcase is probably one of the best things I've found in the last year, it's just small enough to use as a handbag of sorts and I love the colour! I picked up the dress and belt to complete the look but couldn't resist wearing my converse as a nod to my inner tomboy. I'm a huge fan of mad men (if you've not watched the show you absolutely must, if not for the brilliant writing or the absolute hunk that is donald draper then at least for the wardrobes!) I regularly like to dress up in old vintage frocks and channel betty draper 60's vixen! there's something so feminine and glamorous about the fit and style of 60's clothing (I know I should have grown out of pla

valentines nail polishes from ORLY:

Hình ảnh
a quick little review for you guys today! since it's valentines in a few days I thought I'd share a few nail polishes I was sent by look fantastic  recently.  these ORLY  polishes are from their limited edition 'I love nails' spring 2013 valentines collection and are appropriately themed in colour and name... awww! so here are some swatches from two of the range: toast the couple is a peachy nude that has a frost/pearlised finish.  I don't wear pearlised polishes so this one isn't for me but I know they're quite popular so I thought I show you how it swatched! I was surprised how much I like it once applied and the formula is nice and rich without being thick and heavy. It hasn't quite won me round to frosted nails but I have to say I don't hate it!  I used 3 coats here but I'd say 2 would be enough if you were in a hurry! monroe's red is a bright pillar box red polish! this one is my cup of tea! every girl needs a stand out va va voom red in

what I wore: pinafore & fringe

Hình ảnh
every month there's one item I decide is completely logical/utterly necessary for me to buy; this month it was this topshop denim pini dress. at the minute I'm obsessed with 90's dungaree-esque attire & I harbour a secret love of buttons so this dress ticked a few 'I must own you' boxes. I've tried on a few versions of these pinafores but I loved the loose and slouchy fit of this one, perfect lounging attire! my love of western fringing continues too, today with this gorgeous la moda  boho messenger bag (this is my new go-to festival bag for 2013) chic yet laid back; my favourite combination!  today I've been in london working on a very exciting project that I'll share with you soon (promise!) I'm looking forward to getting home and pouring one giant bubble bath to rest my achey-breaky feet! demin pinafore dress:  topshop stripe tee: vintage similar  here summer bag: c/o  la moda  (other colours available) hat: h&m  triangle necklace: urban o

be my valentine DIY:

Hình ảnh
valentines is fast approaching, love it or hate it either way it's hard to avoid.  I'm not biggest romantic in the world; I'd opt for a take out & horror film over to a posh candlelit dinner any day but I do kinda love valentines.  this year I wanted to do a little DIY that was cheap, fun and could be given to just about anyone! so I came up with this simple heart mug that cost less than £5 to make ...pow! porcelain pens are so easy to use; I picked mine up from a local craft shop but you can get them online here  (I picked up the mug for 60p in my local wilkinson's!)  the beauty of these pens is you can wipe them off quickly if you make a mistake, it's just like drawing with felt pens. I simply drew on the hearts and left them to dry for 72 hours; after this they're safe to use in the dishwasher! (I'd probably still hand wash them myself just to be on the safe side) I think you can bake them in the oven  to set them too. what do you think? will you be h
