me, myself & marbs.. a photo diary

Hình ảnh
well there's one place I never thought I'd visit and it was marbella.. I'm not the grey goose drinking, champagne spraying kinda gal but I did have a jolly good time! if you're a bit of a culture vulture I wouldn't advise it for you but if you wish to idle next to a pool for a week (with a few fun nights out thrown in) then it may well be an option... here's some of my snaps from my trip: our beautiful villa for the week | feet fun | the golf course | the doughnut lilo.. best thing I've ever purchased | the glorious mac counter | palm trees | puerto banus town | watermelons | zara home.. too much textile temptation!! turtle feeding time at the golf club, we all found this far too exciting! | opi polish rainbow | pool time | shopping ootd | street art | the airport | ocean club | me and the boy | cocktail time! our pool | our room had a huge balcony perfect for watching the sunsets | my yachts... well a girl can dream! | american apparel airport shopping | me

what I wore: cocoon + check

Hình ảnh
cocoon check print dress : c/o front row shop pork pie hat: topshop double cuff: topshop pyramid ring: urban outfitters gold double chain ring: laura gravestock vintage cocktail ring : c/o rock 'n' rose perspex bag: klear klutch obsessed. yep that pretty much sums up my feeling towards my new dress. it's quite unlike anything else I own and is my favourite a/w piece so far. it also has the addition of pockets (always dear to my heart) and I love how understated it feels. the dress is from front row shop who have quite the selection of quirky clothing, I'm already building up quite a hefty wishlist! I'm really loving unusual cuts and details and their clothing has a wonderful scandinavian feel to it, big fan.  I've been rummaging through my accessories and one thing I will be investing in this month is a few more vintage style rings, I really don't have enough choice in my current stash so if you have any jewellery shop recommendations please let me know! to

roses nail art tutorial:

Hình ảnh
yikes my nails have been so neglected! I love to give my paws a manicure every week but since I started decorating my new house I've not had much time for pampering! just keeping them from breaking as I'm sanding down floors is an achievement ...having a few hours free to file and paint them is a bit of a treat! this is quite a quick nail art so thought I'd share it with you guys! start off with a white base coat, I've used topshop spilled milk polish here...  take a pink and yellow polish and draw on alternate circles using the brush, space them evenly I have 3-4 circles on each nail.  once dry take a black nail art pen (mine is from models own  and I really recommend theirs) roughly outline around the circles and add a small flick in the center to suggest the petals. use a dotting tool dab on green polish to add the leaves, seal with topcoat and you're all done! I did these fairly quickly so I'm sure they would look neater if you try them yourself!  now all I

what I wore: black velvet

Hình ảnh
velvet world dress : c/o mee mee fedora: topshop backpack: topshop studded boots: old eeeeeep I finally have some velvet in my wardrobe! every season tartan and velvet seem to be a staple in autumn/winter trends and I massively regretted not investing in a velvet dress last season! this little number is from the new arrivals at meemee and it was velvet & sheer winner at first sight.. it had a hint of gothic fairytale but still looked wearable. I'm not a huge fan of big sheer panels but subtle ones get the thumbs up for me; I'll mostly wear this dress layered up with jumpers, tights and chunky boots so it'll be quite versatile this winter (no doubt It'll pop up on here again soon!)  I'm already looking forward to layering up again (and probably eating my way into hibernation) is that wrong? anyone else excited to whip out the knits? caroline x shop the look:

DIY chain strap cami top:

Hình ảnh
I thought I'd show you a really easy little DIY for those cami tops we've all been buying this summer! it's a simple update for strappy tops and perfect wear for nights out (it's so basic even the most sew-phobic can get involved!) here's how I made mine: the most important items are a simple cami top and a length of chain, the pliers are just used to open the chain links! cut the straps off your cami and lay them out flat; use your pliers to open the links on chain and cut into two equal lengths (use the original straps as a guide to the length) take a needle and thread and simply sew the chain lengths onto the cami where the original straps were; you're just replacing the fabric straps with chain ones! there you have it; a simple twist on a basic cami top!  what do you think? would you try this yourself? caroline x

what I wore: kimono + cut offs

Hình ảnh
hat: h&m floral kimono : c/o choies vintage belt: urban outfitters shorts: h&m cuff: topshop shoes: topshop oh lord I'm completely unprepared for the cold! I've been busy squeezing in the last of my summer outfits, you might have seen that I've been away in marbella on holiday (the perfect opportunity to drag out my summer wardrobe) but I'm still looking forward to the transition to knits and cosy coats! I haven't been all that tempted by the kimono trend this year but I finally found the one that made me change my mind.. hurrah! I loved the colour and pattern of this one from choies and I'm glad I opted for something different as I loved it on arrival, it's so damn pretty and swishy (yep definitely a word) it's made me a fully fledged kimono convert!  well I'm off to unpack my suitcase, bye bye bikinis hello 100 denier tights. back soon! caroline x come & say hi! bloglovin | twitter | facebook | instagram | pinterest   shop the look

paisley nail art: getting artsy for anxiety

Hình ảnh
topshop spilled milk polish models own black nail art pen today's nail art post is a little bit different. I'm taking part in 'getting artsy for anxiety' a collaboration with molly at lyon notes and some other wonderful bloggers.. molly is raising awareness for mental health; in particular anxiety and depression. I think it's a subject that has touched most of our lives in varying forms whether through personal experience or through our wider circle of friends and family. we're each posting a nail art to reflect our personalities, I opted for a stark black and white combination at first glance a simple pairing but I added the paisley design to reflect my life; more tangled and complicated up close. the message behind the collaboration is a simple concept; be comfortable with who you are and what you've experienced, don't be afraid to speak up- you're not alone. if you'd like to be involved please pop over to molly's blog ; there's a ser

what I wore: vintage levi's

Hình ảnh
hat: h&m vintage levi's denim jacket* brag vintage necklace: urban outfitters dress: topshop belt: forever 21 bag: vintage watch: river island psssst don't tell anyone but I've reached the stage where I'm secretly excited to be wearing jumpers again! I seem spend the majority of each year praying for sunshine but when the chill starts to set in I get all excited about knits, layering up and dark nights with hot drinks. I'm still slightly clinging to summer though; there's no chance the 100 denier tights are making an appearance ...just yet. I'm wearing a topshop jersey dress that I picked up in the sale but it's been a little nippy so my jackets are making a reappearance! cue my excited face as I've been hunting for slightly oversized vintage denim and this one is just pretty darn perfect! (what really swung it for me was the old patches on the back and sleeves which I'm a little obsessed with) the jacket is from brag vintage who have becom

what I wore: embellished tee

Hình ảnh
retro beads embellished tee : c/o choices skirt: topshop shoes: h&m bag: vintage wowza I'm not sure what's gotten into me but I'm loving black again lately...  I spotted this embellished tee on choies and I knew instantly it was THE ONE! I love how simple it is and think it's a great option to wear with skinnies on casual days. I'm really into basic shapes at the moment which I put down to reading a lot of scandinavian blogs this month (they've totally inspired me to invest in a few well cut key pieces!)  if you've not been on choices it's definitely worth a browse; they have an eye watering array of tempting clothes and some beautiful footwear too. the skirt is an oldie from topshop; I wear it time and time again which proves that a simple pencil skirt is a good investment for me (or maybe it proves that I need some new skirts aha!) I opted for white accessories just for the hell of it, I guess black would have been the sensible choice but I wante

...where I blog from:

Hình ảnh
I thought I'd share some snaps of my blogging space before I packed up and moved house! I'm already becoming quite sentimental about the move but I'm also excited to take those scary steps to becoming an actual grown up.. gulp. as you can see I'm quite the hoarder.. I'm really looking forward to having more space so my new place won't be quite so busy! I tend to sit and blog at the little console table in the middle, I picked it up in a sale years ago and painted it myself! as much as I love my console table I'm going to buy an actual desk in the next few weeks so I can have an 'official' office space in my new abode... exciting! I also have a lot of bookcases as I accumulated a horrifying amount of art theory books at university (and a fair amount of trashy novels that I simply can't bear to part with aha!) storage is one of the things I need the most and this blue locker from argos is a life saver, I was kindly given one to review and I can hon
