pretty in pink: orly choreographed choas

Hình ảnh
I'm always on the hunt for the 'perfect' pink nail polish.. a classic go-to nail colour. I love bright bold shades on my nails especially in the summer and this orly polish I received from beauty expert  is so darn pretty!  orly choreographed chaos* £10.25 on first look I wasn't sure if I'd like this one! it has a slight shimmer finish in the bottle and I wasn't sure how it would translate on my actual nails.  fear not I was wrong aha! it's beautiful on and I LOVE the colour, a classic hot pink but just light enough to be uber feminine. the polish itself applies really well, the formula is rich and smooth. this is two coats swatched here and it dries quickly, I didn't find that it chipped easily (I think I had it on for three days in total)  I couldn't resist adding a little daisy nail art to mine to brighten up a dull afternoon, you can see the tutorial for this look over on beauty expert ! I think this will be the shade I reach for when I'm hav

pin it forward: pinterest uk launch!

I think it's safe to say we've all heard of pinterest (in fact I'm pretty sure we're addicted to using pinterest already) but some of you may not know that pinterest is now launching here in the UK! I'm rather pleased to be one of the bloggers involved in the 'pin it forward' campaign to help spread the word and get y'all pinning! I love pinterest, a huge virtual scrapbook of anything that inspires me! I use my boards to store inspiration for DIY projects, cute decorating ideas & recipes guaranteed to expand my waistline! one of my most popular boards is my nail art collection (come follow me!) it's great to see people re pinning my nails and sharing them with other people to try.. I also pin nail art designs that I'd like to try for future inspiration! I know many of you will already be pin-happy members but for any of you that haven't joined pinterest it's basically a tool that allows you to collect and organise the things you love!

my geeky habit: inside my DIY blog book

Hình ảnh
my geeky little habit and I are coming out of the closet. I am OBSESSED with writing lists, I can't sleep until I've written down everything thats bobbing about in my little brain. I'm also rather OCD about keeping all of my ideas and blog related scribbles organised so I've been keeping blog books since I started burkatron.   if I'm stressed the only things that straighten me out are a cup of tea and half an hour writing an action plan! I decided to make writing my endless 'to do' lists a little more fun and this strange scrap booking/crafting habit developed about 6 months ago.  I love buying notebooks; my favourite ones for blog books are the plain kraft  books from paperchase, a mix of blank and brown craft paper they're perfect for writing lists and come in lots of different sizes.  I stick in postcards, scrap paper or sketches. I store secret lists in envelopes stuck inside my books and generally collect lots of little memories and ideas which just

what I wore: unicorns

unicorn print dress.. life complete! I don't know if it's my inner child taking over but this dress is so adorable! I want to dust of my collection of my little ponies and have a play date immediately.. any takers?  the dress is by lashes  of london; I'm sure many of you will already be regular fans of their clothes but this is from their lashes edit - a new capsule collection for topshop that's full of super cute & flirty items (this amazing little unicorn print also comes as a pair of little shorts which are ridiculously dinky!) I thought I'd wear my nike blazers as this outfit felt quite fun and I wanted to put a casual spin on the dress (which could easily be a night out number with heels) so I  added my denim jacket as well for a more relaxed daytime look.   unico fluro contrast dress: c/o  lashes of london bowler hat: h&m clutch: primark ice cream necklace: c/o  chelsea doll nike blazers: office watch: american apparel well I'm off to dig out my pl

what I wore: voile & anglaise

Hình ảnh
I am so in love with this dress....  in truth I'm so infatuated that if we broke up I would most probably stalk it's facebook page. photographs just don't do justice to this french connection  anoushka dress; it's an absolutely gorgeous creation and my new favourite summer companion. I'm so impressed with their dresses if you haven't seen their new collection probably best warn you not to click  here  as you'll not be able to help falling for at least 3 of them ...wink! covered in broderie anglaise detailing with a drop waist it's super feminine and makes me want to nip off to coachella immediately for some festival fun. I paired it with my new fedora and gladiator sandals to toughen it up a little and took anoushka out on our first official date together ...a sunny stroll through the countryside (this is as close to a festival as I'm getting this month!) anoushka voile dress : c/o french connection fedora hat:  topshop leather stud gladiator sandals

currently lovin'

Hình ảnh
there's a few bit's and bobs that I'm currently lovin' in my daily routine; I thought I'd bundle them together for a post as they're not items I'd usually review individually! so without further ado here's a few things I though were worth of a mention/shout out/thumbs up/not a complete waste of money:  ren t-zone balancing day fluid for oily combination skin:  this hasn't knocked my socks off but it's a really clean daily moisturiser that absorbs quickly and is very gentle on my skin (the only disappointment is that it hasn't left my skin feeling amazingly baby soft but as a base for make up I give it a thumbs up! nail decorations:  these are basically fimo pieces for your nails, available in several designs and sold in topshop they're a super quick nail art alternative and just darn cute. illamasqua precision gel liner*  this is soooo good! this eye liner applies uber smooth and stays put all day long on me which is rare as I'm alway

what I wore: palm trees & perspex

Hình ảnh
I love prints.. especially of the palm tree variety! two minutes after opening this meemee  dress, I was on a beach, mojito in hand ready for my summer holiday (you can't blame a girl for dreaming...) as soon as the rain makes itself scarce this little beauty is going to be a staple in my sunny day dress collection. they have some really nice items in at the minute, this lace  playsuit  is  already making my debit card nervous so if you haven't added them to your shopping bookmarks you should. you may notice my new hat; this topshop fedora has been on my wishlist for about two months (yep I caved, I'm weak) now I can pretend to be indiana jones from the comfort of my own bedroom... that's my weekend plans sorted. the belt is from forever 21 and is a really good dupe of the urban outfitters versions so I figured I was saving myself some money with this purchase...wink. sugarhill boutique tropical seas dress: c/o  meemee fedora:  topshop belt: forever 21 bag:  klear klutc

nails of the day: illamasqua noble

Hình ảnh
drum roll... this weeks nail crush goes to  illamasqua noble ! you may have noticed I have a soft spot for blue nail polishes so I was excited to receive this one as it had been on my wish list for quite a while! similar to the shade 'pique blue' that I bought in & other stories recently this turquoise blue has a more radiant finish and is 10x more glossy! the formula is gorgeous, it's light to apply (not heavy and sticky) and the pigment is as always brilliant. I love illamasqua polishes because they dry quickly and you never need more than two coats for full effect.  this is two coats swatched above.  illamasqua nobel* £14.50 I adore this colour it's really vibrant (this would look great against darker skin) definitely a contender for my top 5 summer polish colours. I'll be wearing this one with white tee's, denim cut offs (...and a slathering of st tropez aha!) what do you think? I'm a big fan of their polishes- have you tried them yet? caroline x

DIY jewellery: how to make easy retro rings!

Hình ảnh
making rings is so incredibly easy and quick! it's also pretty darn fun so I decided to dust off my craft box and show you a favourite DIY of mine. usually when I make  rings I use old buttons or coins but I saw these novelty phone & cereal miniatures in my local craft shop I decided to give them a whirl (I love anything a bit kitsch!) you really only need three things to make these; rings blanks, glue and a centerpiece! to start with I removed the string cord from the phone and glued the receiver to the body (I used my glue gun but you can use craft glue like E6000 which is perfect for this project) simply dab glue on the flat ring blank disc and hold the phone into place until secure! that's it.. you're all done hurrah! I used the same process for the cereal boxes.. voila my rice crispie accessories are good to go! ring blanks:  available on eBay  here glue: sold  here miniature telephone  here  and cereal  here! this is such a quick project and they make great novelt
